Responsibilities
- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives
- Manage hiring, training, and development of department staff
- Ensure fair employment practices
- Participate in department head and interdisciplinary care plan meetings
- Purchase food and supplies within budget
- Plan menus and ensure compliance with regulations
- Interview residents or family members for diet history
- Monitor food production and storage
- Maintain quality and timeliness of food service
- Develop and implement procedures for department equipment
- Review resident diet information and care plans
- Recognize staff for exceptional care and performance
- Make job assignments and set priorities
- Orient new staff and participate in recruitment
- Adhere to company policies and state/federal regulations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field
- Current license to practice as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Licensed Dietitian (LD)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience in managing a food service department
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of nutrition principles and practices
- Ability to manage budgets and supplies
- Experience with food safety and sanitation regulations
