Food Service Associate

About the Role

The Food Service Associate processes diet orders and diet changes for assigned units within Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital’s Food & Nutrition Department. This role involves assisting in floor stock maintenance, participating in tray assembly, delivery, and retrieval, and maintaining kitchen and patient-tray cleanliness after meal service.

Responsibilities

• Participates in cold food production and tray assembly.
• Visits patient rooms to obtain verbal menu selections efficiently and pleasantly.
• Communicates patient comments, concerns, or problems to the dietician, shift leader, or manager.
• Assists in food preparation, including assembling prepared food, preparing salads, desserts, and nourishments.
• Prepares and stores all food according to HACCP standards.
• Maintains HACCP Infection Control guidelines.
• Demonstrates equipment safety (e.g., meat slicer, coffee urn, can opener, dishwasher).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency (preferred).
• Barista or food service experience.
