About the role

SSA Group at Utah's Hogle Zoo is seeking friendly Food Associates to join the team during Holiday Light events. SSA has partnered with cultural attractions for over 50 years, bringing together admissions, culinary, and retail to shape seamless guest journeys through what they call 452 Hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Live out 452 Hospitality by delivering warm, welcoming, and memorable experiences for every guest and client
  • Support restaurant prep (FOH and line) for daily operation
  • Meet daily quick service, food service, safety and quality, availability, merchandising and guest service standards
  • Participate in safety logs including food temperatures, rotation and waste as necessary
  • Ensure proper uniform, hygiene, hand-washing and glove use
  • Maintain a safe work environment by abiding to all SSAFETY rules
  • Follow through daily prep and items lists as assigned
  • Actively help support operation in assigned role, supporting holes as necessary
  • Actively and efficiently respond to guest and client feedback, reporting to the supervisor to mitigate potential complaints
  • Communicate issues seen with daily service or quality to Restaurant Supervisor and/or Food Operations Manager
  • Remain knowledgeable of all menu items, prices and specials for sharing with guests
  • Handle cash, credit and debit transactions on a POS system
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
  • Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures
  • Uphold sanitation requirements to present a clean and welcome experience for guests

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with organizational ability
  • Ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player, personable, professional, upbeat and energetic, with initiative
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle boxes (10-35lbs) as necessary, including lifting
  • Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Evening availability is required for this Holiday Light Season position
  • Food handlers permit required
  • Must be 16 or older

Schedule & employment details

  • Part-time seasonal position
  • Position start date: Late September
  • Hours are dependent on season, zoo attendance and weather
  • Hours are scheduled based on availability and work performance

  • Maryland: Employees accrue at least 1 hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year under the Maryland Healthy Working Families Act
  • Washington: Employees accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked in accordance with the Seattle Paid Sick and Safe Time
