Food Service Assistant - PT - Evening Shift

Good Samaritan Society – Albert Lea is an 80‑bed long‑term skilled care and transitional care facility located in southern Minnesota in an area known as “The Land Between the Lakes”.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record proper temperature of food
• Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area
• Prepare and serve food items
• Restock food areas
• Clean and sanitize equipment
• Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register
• Comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service
• Provide outstanding customer service and effectively communicate with patrons and co‑workers
• Demonstrate ability to establish effective working relationships
• Maintain quality control standards
• Operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
• Ability to perform basic math

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience, retail counting and reconciliation of money, and knowledge of food service preferred
• Serv Safe certification may be required (depending on location)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required (depending on location)

Skills

• Ability to work independently when necessary
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
• Ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk considerable distances
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to establish effective working relationships
