About the role
The Food Service Assistant works behind the scenes to provide high-quality food for patients, staff, and other customers. In the hospital setting, nutrition is crucial to the healing process, and the Food Service Assistant plays a vital role in supporting this process. The position involves food preparation and delivery with a high standard of quality and sanitation, as well as customer service, serving, cleaning, and sanitation.
A high level of customer service to internal and external customers, attention to detail, teamwork, flexibility, and a positive attitude are required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver food with a focus on quality and sanitation
- Provide customer service to patients, staff, and other customers
- Serve food and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Work collaboratively as part of a team
Requirements
- Basic reading, writing, and simple math skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to follow directions and work as a team player
- Able to stand for long periods and move quickly
- Must be 16 years of age or older
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
- No prior experience required
