Food Service Assistant 2 (Cafeteria)
Position Summary
As a Food Service Assistant 2 in the cafeteria, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Serving quantity foods, cafeteria style, for approximately 200 people including up to 100 modified diets.
- Assembling trays and nourishments for residents.
- Monitoring sanitation and safety.
- Upholding security in cafeteria areas.
Salary Information
The starting salary is $18.00 per hour.
This position is eligible for a night differential of $0.80 for hours worked between 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, and a weekend differential of $0.80 for hours worked between midnight Friday to midnight Sunday.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/09.
Qualifications
- Ability to work scheduled hours as needed, which may include weekends, holidays, early morning or early evenings, and overtime as needed.
- Previous food service or food production experience.
- Training or experience using a computer to enter data.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation, hand washing and safety standards in a food service environment.
- Customer service experience.
- ServSafe certification (or equivalent food service certification).

Job Details
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
These positions have physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 30 lbs. in the cafeteria, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, stooping, standing, sitting and working on feet for extended periods of time. Applicants may be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
