About the role
Under the supervision of the Dining Room Manager, a Server interacts with our residents and employees of Front Porch residential facilities, and ensures they have a great experience when dining. Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guests' needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important, and relaxed. Servers are expected to have some basic food knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers, and vendors to ensure satisfaction.
- Prepares the tables by laying out napkins and utensils, ensuring condiments are refilled, and performing other preparation tasks.
- Stays updated on current menu choices, specialties, and menu deviations, including knowing if the kitchen staff is running out of any items.
- Directs guests to their tables, presents menus, suggests dishes, assists in drink selection, informs guests about food preparation details, and communicates specific guest needs to the cooks.
- Maintains proper dining experience by delivering items, fulfilling guest needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling glasses.
- Performs basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
- Fills in for absent staff as needed and assists with special events.
- Greets all guests warmly with an appropriate greeting.
- Follows highest standards of cleanliness and all federal, state, and corporate policies, health codes, and guidelines in preparation and handling of foodstuffs.
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner, wears safety equipment as required, and reports any safety hazards or accidents to supervisor.
- Follows department safety standards, practices correct body mechanic techniques, and participates in campus-wide safety programs.
- Attends all mandatory in-service meetings.
- Complies with all department and facility policies and procedures.
- Understands facility’s fire and disaster plans; follows established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.
Requirements
- Food Handlers’ certification from local health department (essential).
- Some high school education (essential).
- 0-1 year of related experience or training (nonessential).
Schedule
On Call - Friday & Saturday, 4pm-8pm
