- Establish and continuously update risk-based food safety requirements aligned with global regulations, Codex Alimentarius, FSSC 22000, and hazard control principles.
- Develop category-specific and process design standards, including powder handling, allergen controls, and hygienic design.
- Define and oversee critical food safety controls for high-risk nutrition products, addressing microbiological, chemical (e.g., heavy metals), and physical hazards.
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to embed food safety requirements early in product and process design.
- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturing sites, co-manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure compliance with category-specific food safety standards.
- Lead audits, assessments, and periodic reviews of food safety implementation across internal sites and external partners, driving corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze global food safety data, trends, incidents, testing results, and audit findings to drive continuous improvement, training, and capability building.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Food Safety, Nutrition, or a related discipline; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
- 3–5+ years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food or nutritional products industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of microbiological, chemical, and physical hazards relevant to nutritional and high-risk food categories.
- Demonstrated expertise in HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000/FSSC 22000, and global food safety regulatory frameworks.
- Experience establishing, implementing, or maintaining global food safety standards or quality management systems.
- Background working with high-risk or sensitive nutrition categories (e.g., infant or clinical nutrition) and complex global supply chains preferred.
- Proven capability in strategic, system-level problem-solving, technical writing, and development of standards and requirements.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, data analytics, and risk assessment skills, with ability to lead effectively in a matrixed, global environment; certifications such as PCQI or HACCP Lead Instructor preferred.
