Food Safety & Quality UGP Manager
About the Role
Ensure the inspection of the finished product output and guarantee finished products meet quality specifications established by the Quality Department. Examine quality reports prepared daily by production personnel (data entry into systems such as SAP-QM or Fenice) and review monthly reports. Support the factory quality and food safety management program, including product coding maintenance. Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems. Record goods movements in SAP (e.g., stock for quality controls, blocked stock). Ensure all program requirements and standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced, and maintained. Conduct internal auditing, record statistical data, and analyze production data to verify compliance or determine deviations from existing standards. Execute daily reviews of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) documentation. Enforce and promote all company guidelines, policies, and good manufacturing practices.
Responsibilities
- Ensure documents are created and maintained for Quality Control activities.
- Review consumer complaint data and determine courses of action to reduce complaints.
- Oversee incoming packaging material for accuracy and complete SAP-related activities.
- Review incoming ingredient Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and complete SAP-related activities.
- Utilize SAP to hold non-conforming product, ingredients, and packaging material.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are updated and reviewed annually.
- Support Research & Development (R&D) activities, including trials, product start-ups, and military standard testing.
- Ensure equipment for quality testing is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Manage product holds, including dispositions.
- Oversee daily activities of QA Technicians.
- Prepare documentation in advance and compile data; collaborate with Operations on Quality concerns.
- Create QA-related One-Point Lessons (OPLs) and train affected personnel.
- Conduct mock trace exercises.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Microbiology, Biology, Food Safety, Food Science, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of relevant supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
- Ability to match or detect differences in color, including shades and brightness; ability to see details and compare similarities and differences quickly and accurately.
- Ability to perform simple math.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in SAP is preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP is strongly preferred.
