Food Safety & Quality Specialist- 3rd Shift
About the role
The Food Safety & Quality Specialist ensures the integrity and highest level of quality for all Ferrero products produced in the Bloomington, IL plant. This role involves inspecting work in process and finished products, following production activities to ensure compliance with quality standards, GMPs, and food safety.
Schedule
3rd Shift: 11 p.m. – 7 a.m., Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend coverage on a rotational basis.
Responsibilities
- Inspect finished product output to guarantee compliance with quality specifications established by the Quality Department.
- Examine quality reports prepared by production personnel (data entry into systems such as SAP-QM or Fenice), review monthly reports, and request or verify adjustments as required.
- Conduct sensory sessions for semi-finished and finished products.
- Support the factory food allergen management program and product coding maintenance.
- Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems.
- Train personnel responsible for quality checks of the product (self-control).
- Record goods movements in SAP (e.g., stock for quality controls, blocked stock).
- Ensure all program requirements and standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced, and maintained.
- Perform internal auditing, record statistical data, and analyze production data to verify compliance or identify deviations from standards.
- Execute daily review of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) documentation.
- Enforce and promote all company guidelines, policies, and good manufacturing practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree required in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or Food Chemistry; Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred.
- 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades and brightness; ability to see details at close range; ability to compare similarities and differences quickly and accurately; ability to identify or detect patterns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in SAP systems preferred.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP strongly preferred.
Pay
The base compensation range for this position is $50,000.00 – $75,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
