Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Technician will deliver maximum quality in a profitable manner while upholding quality control standards. Duties include analyzing manufacturing processes, performing product testing, ensuring standards are maintained, preserving product integrity, handling customer concerns, and providing guidance to production personnel.
Shifts
2nd Shift - 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm (Monday to Friday)
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, And Key Accountabilities
- Provide daily monitoring of facility and personnel to ensure compliance with the food safety system of the facility; perform formal audits on GMPs
- Train facility personnel on GMPs, risk preventive controls, hazard analysis, pre-requisite programs, and other applicable food safety system elements as required
- Conduct pre-operational inspections
- Collect and analyze product samples as required, document information derived from analysis, and keep records of all facility analytical results
- Report results discovered to be out of specification to the QA supervisor
- Document and report analytical results to the QA supervisor, track and report data trends
- Inspect raw materials coming in, assist in investigating non-conformance and complaints about product, and provide leadership for the facility team in performing self-audits
- Aid in hosting visitors to the facility, including regulatory agency representatives and customer representatives, function as main host for the facility’s third-party auditors
- Inform Quality Assurance Management of any food safety concerns
- Implement and manage food safety corrective actions
- Provide assistance to local and corporate management in carrying out changes to the food safety system of the facility; assist in creating, reviewing, authenticating, and maintaining food safety system documents, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and programs
- Work in collaboration with the quality assurance team to maintain document registers and documentation
- Possess innovative, resourceful, and proactive disposition, committed to ensuring continuous improvement of capacity and delivering quality service
- Prioritize and perform position responsibilities accurately and to deadline
- Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards
- Handle any other duties as assigned by QA supervisor and QA manager
Additional Qualifications
- Excellent attendance and punctuality for an hourly role
- Utilize soft skills to maintain good relationships with customers and production personnel
- Prior quality assurance experience preferred
- Food manufacturing experience
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable FDA regulations and GMPs preferred
- Experience performing administrative work including completing and reconciling paperwork preferred

- Computer skills including basic Microsoft Excel required

Working Conditions
- Largely a static role with standing, but requires the ability to perform repetitive bending and standing up
- Requires the ability to lift 10-35 lbs. repetitively and up to 45 lbs. occasionally
- Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for duration of shift
- Team members who may come in direct contact with allergenic food ingredients must be able to work with these ingredients
