About the role
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager oversees Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs at San Miguel Produce. This role supports the Director of Production Operations by ensuring compliance, leading QA/QC teams, and driving the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs
- Support the Director of Production Operations in ensuring day-to-day compliance
- Lead QA/QC teams
- Drive the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality systems across field and facility operations
Requirements
- Four-year degree in Biology, Food Science, or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in food safety, quality assurance, or produce industry
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of food safety systems including HACCP, FSMA, Preventive Controls, GMPs, GAP, SSOP, and GFSI standards
- Experience with environmental monitoring programs and microbiological testing required
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (FDA, LGMA, USDA)
- Experience developing and maintaining SOPs, food safety manuals, and product specifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and QA/QC systems (e.g., Safety Culture, Highland Hub, GIS, Famous Software)
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, auditors, and customers
- Must be able to travel as needed between fields and facilities
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets company policy, insurance, and DMV requirements
Qualifications
- HACCP, PCQI, SQF Practitioner, or equivalent certifications
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and general labor regulations
- Bilingual English/Spanish

Benefits
- Total Rewards: $80,000 - $100,000 / Yearly

- Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
