Food Production Assistant - School Nutrition Services - School Year 2026-2027

Qualifications/Skills

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Must obtain a valid Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment
• Must meet annual USDA Professional Standards requirements
• Ability to speak and read English
• Accepts direction and constructive feedback
• Understands and communicates basic job-related information
• Collaborates and interacts professionally with students, staff, and team members
• Works efficiently and maintains a sense of urgency
• Maintains good personal appearance and cleanliness
• Understands or able to learn school nutrition program requirements
• Supports evolving menu practices

• Basic understanding or ability to learn school nutrition program requirements

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• May assist with cashier duties on the serving line, as needed
• Follow school nutrition guidelines to ensure meals are served correctly and meet program requirements
• Use basic technology and equipment to support daily operations
• Prepare and serve food according to established procedures and methods in a timely manner
• Follow standardized recipes and production methods
• Assist in multiple areas of the kitchen and serving line as needed
• Ensure food is prepared and presented to meet quality and appearance standards
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures to ensure proper food handling and a safe work environment
• Maintain cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and serving spaces
• Perform other duties as assigned
