About the District

Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels with assistance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, creating unique opportunities for teachers and students. Initiatives include a long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools as a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. The district has also received significant grants enabling creative redesign of the Secondary School, curriculum enhancements, improved culture and climate, and expanded afterschool opportunities for students.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the preparation and serving of food items according to departmental policies and procedures
• Serves food in proper pre-determined portion sizes
• Provides services to cafeteria customers in a friendly and efficient manner
• Operates dish machine
• Cleans food production area, serving area, and sitting area during and after meal service
• Performs other related duties as required

Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred but not required)
• Prior cafeteria or food industry experience (preferred but not required)
