About the role
We are seeking a dedicated educator to join our team in a K-12 alternative certification program. This role supports non-traditional certification pathways for aspiring teachers, helping them meet Michigan's certification requirements while gaining hands-on classroom experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement alternative certification curriculum aligned with state standards.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to teacher candidates throughout their certification process.
- Collaborate with school districts to place candidates in appropriate classroom settings.
- Monitor candidate progress and ensure compliance with Michigan Department of Education requirements.
- Facilitate professional development workshops and seminars for candidates.
- Evaluate candidate performance through observations, assessments, and portfolio reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of candidate progress and program outcomes.
Requirements
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful K-12 teaching experience.
- Experience with alternative certification programs or teacher mentorship preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Michigan teacher certification standards and processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including school districts, universities, and state agencies.
