About the role

This position involves a variety of duties focused on food merchandising, customer satisfaction, and maintaining store facilities. Shift availability is flexible, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Food Merchandising:
  • Ensure all grocery deliveries are accurate, stocked, attractively displayed, and priced correctly to maximize sales and profitability.
  • Complete build-to’s for ordering and purchasing merchandise.
  • Maintain inventory by checking in deliveries, pricing items, and stocking merchandise according to schematic.
  • Validate deliveries by verifying invoices and reviewing discrepancies with the Store Manager.
  • Prepare displays by assembling, dating, and price marking in-store displays.
  • Rotate food items and monitor quality and freshness to protect customers from illness.
  • Maintain and monitor the food preparation area and display cases to attract and retain customers.
  • Assist in training new associates with an emphasis on excellent customer service.
  • Monitor and organize inventory to prevent stockouts.
• Customer Satisfaction:
  • Provide prompt, excellent customer service in a courteous, friendly, and attentive manner.
  • Greet customers as they enter and thank them as they leave.
  • Resolve or assist in resolving routine customer concerns within established guidelines.
  • Report to work on time and follow the dress and appearance code.
  • Prepare and serve quality food and beverages to meet customer needs.
• Facility Condition:
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Sweep, mop, or clean floors, windows, counters, displays, store areas, and bathrooms.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash, litter, or debris.
  • Inspect store facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain food service equipment to protect customers from illness.
• Administrative:
  • Attend job-related meetings (may require working irregular hours).
  • Maintain intradepartmental workflow by fostering a spirit of cooperation.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform all duties with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Ability to work as scheduled, including arriving to work on time.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide) preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to be exposed to cold or warm temperature extremes, including occasional work in a walk-in cooler, freezer, and outdoors.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead (e.g., stocking inventory).
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist (e.g., replenishing fountain syrups).
• Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands for an entire shift, requiring eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to push/pull with arms up to a force of 20 pounds (e.g., utilizing a hand-truck).
• Able to reach overhead for objects.
• Ability to bend and twist at the waist.
• Ability to communicate orally.
• Ability to operate a cash register and/or computer keyboard.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, squat, bend, push, and pull.
• Ability to work alone.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
• May require climbing a ladder to store and retrieve materials or place and remove signs.

Work Environment

• Perform approximately 95% of work indoors but may be required to clean parking lots, gas pumps, take out garbage, etc.
• Exposure to extreme cold temperatures while working in a walk-in cooler and/or freezer.
• Exposure to occasional noise.
• Work with minimum direction and periodic supervision.

Pay

Hiring range: $13.50 to $14.00 per hour.
