Role Summary
The Food Distribution Program Assistant supports the RSIC Diabetes Program by helping keep weekly food distribution running smoothly and safely for participants.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain food distribution records and compile data for monthly reporting
- Prepare outreach mailings as needed for the Diabetes Food Distribution Program
- Transport participants to and from the Clinic for diabetes food distribution when requested
- Pick up, transport, load, and unload food boxes from the Food Bank or other sources
- Help set up and organize the distribution site for weekly food events and demonstrations
- Aid elderly and disabled participants with moving food boxes to their vehicles
- Document mileage and locations for transports and deliveries
- Complete other related duties as assigned
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to regularly lift at least 30 lbs; frequent bending/stooping and physical assistance as needed (including wheelchairs/walkers)
- Age 21+ and eligible for the RSIC Vehicle Insurance Program
- Valid Nevada driver's license
- Obtain/maintain CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire
- Pass TB test (or provide recent documentation)
- Pass pre-employment alcohol/drug screening and PL-101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Act Policy
- Ability to communicate and work well with diverse individuals; must be able to work in a diverse minority environment
