Food Deliverer

About the Role

The Food Deliverer ensures food arrives at assigned locations safely and appropriately. This role involves adhering to the Food Services Manual, packing and unpacking food, conducting inventory, completing temperature logs, and other related tasks. The highest priorities are ensuring children receive nutritious meals on time and preventing foodborne illnesses. The position also promotes the mission of ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services and complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including mandated reporting of suspected child abuse or neglect.

This is a temporary role expected to end on November 2, 2026.

Responsibilities

• Transport meals to local Head Start sites.
• Deliver supplies to sites as needed.
• Return food containers to the kitchen daily.
• Store food and equipment appropriately in an organized manner in the vehicle and at the program sites.
• Adhere to delivery routes and schedules to maintain safe food temperatures for hot and cold foods.
• Maintain sanitation, safety, and food preparation standards, including:
  • Reporting health information related to diseases transmissible through food.
  • Keeping delivery vehicles clean and well-maintained.
  • Maintaining records pertaining to food safety.
  • Attending food safety and food allergy training as required.
  • Following handwashing procedures specified in the ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services “Hand Washing Policy/Protocol.”
• Conduct inventory and stock shelves and refrigerators at delivery sites.
• Complete food temperature logs.
• Deliver food to classrooms.
• Conduct and document Food Safety checklists at delivery sites.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid driver’s license, proof of car insurance, and a good driving record.
• Access to a reliable vehicle for deliveries.
• Good organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Flexibility, promptness, and reliability.
• Comfort working with people of varying socioeconomic backgrounds, social orientations, and racial diversity.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
• Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED and up to 12 months of experience.
• Active ServSafe certification or ability to obtain one within the first six months of employment.

Pay

$19.49 per hour.
