About the role
Westwood Country Club is a private member-owned club located just west of Tysons Corner, Virginia, in the town of Vienna. The club features a Gene Bates-designed 18-hole championship golf course, fitness center, indoor racquets facility, court tennis, five indoor and four outdoor tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, baby pool, and a children’s center. The expansive clubhouse offers a variety of full-service dining rooms and private event spaces. Westwood recently completed over $26 million in renovations and maintains a substantial waitlist for membership.
The Food and Beverage Manager plays a critical role in the club’s success, working closely with the Assistant General Manager (AGM) and Senior F&B Manager to ensure a high-quality dining experience for members and guests. This highly visible, hands-on role requires consistent engagement with members and guests, as well as leadership and support of the service staff. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the maturity to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for members and guests.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day front-of-house (FOH) food and beverage outlets.
- Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling FOH food and beverage staff.
- Collaborate with the AGM to develop the food and beverage department’s yearly budget, review financial reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Responsible for POS updates and menu programming.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings with staff.
- Conduct inventories of beverages, supplies, dinnerware, and glassware as needed.
- Ensure all food and beverage staff are presentable, well-groomed, and in established uniforms at all times.
- Enforce all club rules and regulations.
- Engage with and mentor team members to improve member service and experience.
Requirements
- Passion for F&B service and standards, with a focus on establishing a positive, family-oriented culture.
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of wine and wine service.
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and possessing a positive, hospitality-driven demeanor.
- Hands-on management style with a focus on team success.
- Awareness of F&B trends and the ability to balance fine dining with upscale, relaxed service.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to hold teammates accountable.
- Professional communication with members and guests.
- Knowledge of Food and Beverage operations and POS systems.
- Experience in dining management and/or private club management.
- Proven success in team building and staff development.
