Duties and Responsibilities
- Functions as a role model to staff by performing all store functions as necessary, demonstrating good work habits, encouraging clean and safe work habits, and promoting positive attitudes towards customers and other staff members.
- Ensures all staff wear appropriate uniforms consisting of a Marketplace shirt and a Masthope issued hat or visor.
- Trains all staff on proper operating procedures, sales systems, and equipment to promote top performances.
- Ensures all staff are following the same guidelines when making menu items to maximize consistency across deli products.
- Assigns daily duties and supervises store personnel to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Promotes cross training of staff in store daily operations to optimize potential.
- Ensures daily temperature logs are maintained properly and kept on file for the state inspection.
- Creates a weekly schedule providing sufficient staffing for the store at needed times, while also being mindful of overstaffing at unneeded times (also must schedule staff meetings when necessary.)
- Creates weekly specials with accurate pricing and introduces new recipes.
- Communicates these things to the appropriate staff.
- Completes weekly inventories for all vendors to access product movement and to adjust inventory guides as needed.
- Provides biweekly progress reports to the Assistant Community Manager/Community Manager.
- Completes monthly thermometer checks to ensure proper function; replaces thermometers as needed.
- Completes monthly inventory.
- Places orders according to inventory stock and store needs and any budgetary restrictions.
- Receives and examines all deliveries for discrepancies, and product quality and resolves problems promptly.
- Keeps an eye out on all vendors and potential vendors that the store could use to ensure maximum savings and product variety.
- Ensures all new products are entered into the sales system prior to being put out for resale.
- Updates and manages the sales system as needed to maximize the use for all staff, to ensure accurate pricing and tax, and to have accurate reporting for the accounting department.
- Ensures accurate pricing for all retail and deli items sold in the store to maximize profit while remaining within reasonable margins.
- Implements timelines to ensure smooth operations for calendar events, holiday periods, etc.
- Minimizes any customer complaints through effective customer service in accordance with our policy.
- Ensures cash drawers are reconciled accurately on a daily basis.
- Enforces store policies in verbal and written form as needed and maintains store standards in accordance with policy.
- Ensures store is kept up to health department standards with food safety, cleanliness, organization and operational procedures.
- Keep all state licensing up to date annually and ensure it is displayed properly per state regulations.
