About the Role

Under direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Supervisor, maintains highly efficient and courteous food and beverage operations in a fast-paced setting by greeting guests, anticipating guest’s needs, and providing knowledgeable food & beverage service. Must have extensive knowledge of Title 4 (Arizona liquor law) and follow Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise (TOGE) alcohol training as well as all TOGE internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Applies knowledge of the laws and regulations governing Food & Beverage, ensuring that all Tribal, City, State, and Federal Health/Food Safety codes are upheld.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and sanitized work area while following all TOGE, tribal, City, State, and Federal health/food safety regulations and codes.
  • Operates the cash register, handles daily records, and ensures proper tendering of all transactions.
  • Balances cash register receipts, guest checks, and gratuity sheets for the team member’s shift.
  • Trains new team members and maintains good communication with team members to foster a positive and professional work environment.
  • Maintains proper attendance in accordance with casino policy.
  • Completes side work as assigned by the Food & Beverage Supervisor or assigned team member.
  • Restocks all work areas and sweeps floors throughout the shift to ensure appearance standards.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the restaurant in an efficient, cost-effective, and labor-effective manner.
  • Recognizes that each team member is a representative of the casino and demonstrates courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to guests.
  • Learns and follows standard service techniques consistently.
  • Adheres to all Title 4 (Arizona liquor law) and TOGE internal controls.
  • Responds to guest requests and monitors guests to ensure they are not intoxicated, following proper procedures if intoxication is observed.
  • Knows information regarding all Food and Beverage outlets, discounts, and Casino Promotions to inform guests when asked.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of service for guests.
  • Demonstrates Desert Diamond Casino’s “On Brand” attitude and Spirit of Service Standards at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management to meet operational needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Recent experience in food service, point of sale, or cash handling preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • No felony, theft, or stealing convictions.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain a gaming license.

Skills & Certifications

  • High energy and motivated personality.
  • Knowledge of dining and food maintenance operations, customer service, and Title 4 (Arizona liquor law) regarding alcohol service.
  • Knowledge of cash handling, restaurant menu items, bar items, liquors, pricing, and POS systems.
  • Knowledge of internal controls and commitment to follow them consistently.
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handlers card and TIPS certification.
  • Ability to pass cash handling training and departmental testing for the position.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in Basic English.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a stressful, busy environment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member regularly is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The team member frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The team member occasionally is required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

Work is generally performed in a bar and casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Evenings, graveyards, holidays, and/or weekend work are required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Will work in all venues unless specified by Food & Beverage Management.
