About The Role
We invite you to join the world of luxury hospitality at Fairmont Olympic as our new Assistant Food & Beverage Manager! The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall success of our diverse food and beverage operations. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, this position is responsible for overseeing daily operations across all F&B outlets, ensuring exceptional guest service, managing staff, and contributing to profitability. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented leader with a strong passion for food and beverage excellence and a proven ability to inspire and develop a team.
Responsibilities
- Supervises day-to-day function of all restaurant employees, facilities, sales, and costs
- Controls and analyzes, on an ongoing basis, the following: Quality levels of production, Guest satisfaction (VOG), Employee satisfaction (EES), Operating costs (financials), Sanitation, cleanliness, hygiene (front & back of house)
- Establishes and maintains effective employee relations
- Conducts candidate interviews, hiring, employee orientation, training, on-the-job performance, coaching, counseling, and suspension if necessary to ensure appropriate staffing and productivity
- Attends and contributes to the weekly food and beverage departmental meetings
- Conducts cleaning inspections on a regular basis to ensure compliance with health standards and hotel cleanliness standards
- Participates in service as necessary in accordance with the requirements and practices of the restaurant
- Ensures hotel grooming and appearance standards are met
- Controls stocks for daily use in restaurants to ensure service requirements are met
- Ensures all health and safety procedures and policies are adhered to by all staff and follows through with any health and safety requests made by staff
- Participates in the preparation of the food and beverage department budget and goals
- Conducts all administrative work required, including but not limited to schedules, cleaning and maintenance logbooks, opening/closing duties, cleaning checklists
- Tracks and compiles sales statistics per month, other checklists, and reports as deemed necessary to effectively run and maximize profits for the outlet
- Contributes to hotel committees and various events
- Maintains ALL Safe Standards, ensuring all hygiene and prevention measures are being met
- Adheres to alcohol handling procedures and policies
- Adheres to all LQA standards set for the department
- Works weekends, holidays, and shift work as scheduled
- Performs any other tasks as assigned
Team Management
- Motivate, supervise, and discipline team members as needed
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new employees
- Identify and develop high-potential team members
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback
- Monitor appearance, professionalism, and attitude of all team members
- Develop and maintain training programs aligned with business needs
- Create weekly schedules based on business levels and budget guidelines
- Prepare payroll and gratuity reports accurately and on time
- Lead monthly departmental meetings to share updates, gather feedback, and address operational concerns

Operational Leadership
- Supervise daily venue operations to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction
- Act as the point of contact for all venue-related matters during shift coverage
- Maintain and uphold Fairmont and LQA standards, consistently delivering a luxury experience
Requirements
- Diploma in Hospitality Management/Food & Beverage preferred
- Additional certification(s) in Food & Beverage will be an advantage
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity
- Good reading, writing, and oral proficiency in English language
- Ability to speak other languages and basic understanding of local languages will be an advantage
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint
- MAST & Food Handler’s Certification
