Food and Nutrition Svc Worker
About the Role
As a Food and Nutrition Service Worker at Rapides Regional Medical Center, you will perform a variety of food service tasks involved in food preparation, serving, and storage. This includes food portioning, service, delivery, and sanitation. You may also handle food products and supplies, set up and serve from written menus on the patient line, assist customers in the cafeteria, and participate in cleaning and sanitizing duties such as dishwashing, pot washing, equipment cleaning, and floor cleaning.
You will be responsible for meeting established policies and standards of practice, participating in performance improvement activities, and maintaining a supportive, team-oriented environment. This role requires flexibility, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in an age-appropriate manner with patients, visitors, and coworkers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare menu items from written recipes and verbal directions, making independent decisions regarding daily food production scheduling.
- Serve food to customers and assist in other kitchen areas as needed.
- Work assigned positions on the patient tray line or cafeteria, arriving at scheduled times.
- Complete routine daily and special weekly cleaning assignments on time.
- Practice proper food storage techniques to ensure food safety, including labeling and dating food items.
- Abide by all safety, infection control, and departmental guidelines.
- Report equipment repairs, maintenance, and supply needs to the Food Service supervisor promptly.
- Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and wear appropriate PPE (e.g., hair nets, gloves) as required.
- Implement a safe and sanitary work environment by following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and communicate with customers in an age-appropriate manner.
- Work as a positive team member and adapt to changing needs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Food Service and Customer Service experience preferred.
