Schedule
8 hours per day, 190 days per school year (district-wide floater). Shift: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing food by following a recipe.
- Assist in setting up service areas, portioning, and/or serving food items.
- Assist with cleaning and storing of all kitchen equipment and the cleaning of floors and tables.
- Use various pieces of kitchen and cooking equipment, recommending needed maintenance and repairs.
- Assist in control of food and supply costs with stock rotation, proper storage and handling, portion control, and use of excess food production.
- Understand and practice good nutrition in the preparation and service of food.
- Maintain standards of sanitation, safety, production, service, and food quality.
- Communicate and work with fellow employees and supervisors.
- Supervise food service personnel working in the area.
- May assist the manager in preparing orders for food and supplies.
- Maintain good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
- Plan workload, forecast requirements, and coordinate food production.
- Complete and maintain food production records.
- Ensure proper food appearance for merchandising to the customers.
- Assist with production and service of catered functions.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Physical Requirements
- Physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and to walk much of the time during the day.
- Able to work in very warm surroundings.
- Manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of kitchen equipment.
- Able to lift materials weighing at least 46 pounds.
- May be required to climb stairs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Competence in the stated areas of responsibility.
