Food and Nutrition Services Cashier II - 6.5 hrs/day (190 days/school year calendar)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Operates Food Service Management software with proficiency and maintains system security.
• Documents an accurate daily count of student meals served by category- full price, reduced price or free.
• Maintains accurate records of adult meals, student prepayments, milk and a la carte sales daily.
• Responsible for charging correct prices for food and/or meals, making accurate change, and compiling daily bank deposits.
• Maintains standards of sanitation and safety.
• Communicates effectively with students, faculty, parents, fellow workers and supervisors personally, on the phone, via email, and in writing.
• Maintains good public relations.
• Provides sales data for production records.
• Aids in troubleshooting data discrepancies.
• Maintains student meal benefits, assists families with the application process.
• Communicates with Operations office to resolve issues.
• May assist in training Cashier I.
• Responsible for enforcement of the district's charge policy, including communicating with families for debt collection.
• Aids in inputting orders, inventory and payroll.
• Performs duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the "Davenport Community School District Cashier Handbook."
• May be required to cover in buildings other than the one assigned.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Physical Requirements Of Position

• The cashier is physically able to work in a standing position for prolonged periods and to walk much of the time during the day;
• Is able to work in very warm surroundings;
• Has manual dexterity to handle knives and other pieces of kitchen equipment;
• Able to lift materials weighting at least 46 pounds;
• May be required to climb stairs.

Special Qualification Desired

• EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE- The School Food Service Cashier shall possess competence in the above stated areas of responsibility. It is required that the cashier has a high school diploma or GED.
• Computer experience (Email, Word and Excel) is preferred but not required.
