Food and Nutrition Services Cashier II - 5.75 hrs/day (190 days/school year calendar)

5.75 hours per day, 190 days per school year (school-year calendar)
8:30 AM – 2:15 PM

Responsibilities

• Operates Food Service Management software with proficiency and maintains system security.
• Documents an accurate daily count of student meals served by category: full price, reduced price, or free.
• Maintains accurate records of adult meals, student prepayments, milk, and à la carte sales daily.
• Charges correct prices for food and/or meals, makes accurate change, and compiles daily bank deposits.
• Monitors student meal selections to guarantee compliance with federal School meal standards.
• Assists with garbage removal and cleaning of cafeteria floors and tables.
• May assist in preparing and portioning food, setting up, cleaning, and maintaining service areas.
• Maintains standards of sanitation and safety.
• Communicates effectively with students, faculty, parents, fellow workers, and supervisors in person, by phone, email, and in writing.
• Maintains good public relations.
• Provides sales data for production records and assists in troubleshooting data discrepancies.
• Monitors student meal benefits and assists families with the application process.
• Communicates with the Operations office to resolve issues.
• May assist in training Cashier I.
• Enforces the district's charge policy, including communicating with families for debt collection.
• Assists managers with input of orders, inventory, and payroll.
• Performs duties in accordance with the principles outlined in the "Davenport Community School District Cashier Handbook."
• May be required to cover in buildings other than the one assigned.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Physically able to:
  • Work in a standing position for prolonged periods and walk much of the time during the day.
  • Work in very warm surroundings.
  • Handle knives and other kitchen equipment with manual dexterity.
  • Lift materials weighing at least 46 pounds.
  • Climb stairs as required.

Qualifications

• Competence in the stated areas of responsibility.
• Computer experience (Email, Word, and Excel) preferred but not required.
