All About Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage team ensures product freshness, availability, and accurate pricing. They lead food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.

The Role of a Food & Beverage Expert

Provides guests with information around when to purchase items and in what quantity, as well as storage tips. Manages department sales trends, inventory, quality and freshness, guest shopping patterns, and pricing and promotions strategies. Locates and identifies damaged, recalled, or expired items and processes according to Target's policies and procedures. Promotes products and increases sales using sampling and suggestive selling. Works with vendors to proactively set, maintain, and make planned changes to salesfloor merchandise displays and organize backroom space. Executes all federal, state, and local adult beverage laws as applicable to your business. Uses appropriate in-store and personal protective equipment; follows equipment control guidelines. Demonstrates a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Maintains a welcoming experience by greeting guests as they complete daily tasks. Engages with guests in a welcoming way to help solve their specific needs. Thinks about the guest and improves their experience. • You are open to working a flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts (including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times).

Skills You Should Have From the Get-go

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery Only)
• Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required
• A welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
• Resolve guest questions quickly
• Attention to detail and follow multi-step processes
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

What We Expect

• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb up and down ladders
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
• Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays)
• Reliable and prompt attendance necessary
• Ability to work in an environment that could range from 34°F to -10°F as needed
• Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
