Food & Beverage Team

The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. They are experts of operations, process and efficiency, leading food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.

Role Overview

A Food & Beverage Expert gains experience in guest service fundamentals, freshness culture, business fundamentals (sales trends, inventory, quality, freshness management, guest shopping patterns), food seasonality, safety standards, merchandising, and executing Food & Beverage standards through assignment sheets and task execution.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests: at 10 ft be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave; at 4 ft greet, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction.
• Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience.
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
• Actively support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience.
• Deliver an exceptional guest experience, prioritizing the guest’s needs over tasks.
• Uphold and maintain execution of the Food & Beverage Standards.
• Execute Food & Beverage processes including food deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in‑stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing and storing reserve product.
• Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
• Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
• Work with vendors to set, maintain and adjust sales‑floor merchandise displays and keep the backroom organized.
• Locate and identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to Target’s policies.
• Execute all federal, state and local adult‑beverage laws as they apply to the business.
• Appropriately use and care for in‑store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment‑control guidelines.
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
• Work safely at all times; comply with safety policies, report hazards and correct them where possible.
• Support guest services such as backup cashier, order pick‑up (OPU) and Drive‑up (DU) while maintaining compliance with applicable laws.
• Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery only).
• Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required.
• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
• Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
• Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team‑member issues.
• Interpret instructions, reports and information.
• Accurately handle cash‑register operations as needed.
• Climb up and down ladders if needed.
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays); attend scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
• Ability to work in environments with refrigeration/freezer temperatures, common allergens, varying temperature, humidity, and other elements.
• Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $16.00 USD per hour.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule with varying hours, days or shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and other peak shopping times. Shift length may vary.
