Food & Beverage Team

The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available, and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The team leads food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.

Role Overview

The role of a Food & Beverage Expert provides the following skills and experiences:

  • Guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest‑first and freshness culture in Food & Beverage.
  • Food & Beverage business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory, quality and freshness management, and guest shopping patterns.
  • Understanding food seasonality, freshness and quality, food safety standards and routines, and merchandising.
  • Working with a dynamic, fast‑paced team focused on the guest experience and executing Food & Beverage standards and best practices through Assignment Sheets and task execution.

Responsibilities

  • Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience:
    • Greet guests within 10 ft with a smile, eye contact, or wave; within 4 ft with a warm, helpful interaction.
    • Help guests find what they need or resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience.
    • End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you.
  • Support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive, respectful attitude.
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring experience.
  • Uphold and maintain execution of the Food & Beverage Standards.
  • Execute Food & Beverage processes including deliveries, replenishment, straightening merchandise, in‑stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, and organizing reserve product.
  • Follow all food safety requirements as outlined in Target’s policies and procedures.
  • Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
  • Work with vendors to set, maintain, and adjust sales‑floor merchandise displays and keep the backroom organized.
  • Locate and identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to Target policies.
  • Execute all federal, state, and local adult‑beverage laws as they apply.
  • Appropriately use and care for in‑store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely at all times and report hazards.
  • Support guest services such as backup cashier, order pick‑up (OPU), and Drive‑up (DU) while maintaining compliance with applicable laws.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery only).
  • Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate on multiple‑frequency devices, operate handheld scanners, and use other technology as directed.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow multi‑step processes.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
  • Climb ladders as required.
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, frequently lifting or moving items up to 44 lb without assistance.
  • Work in environments that include refrigeration, freezer temperatures, and potential allergens.
  • Remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts; shift length may vary.
  • Flexible schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) and take required meal and rest breaks.

Pay

Starting hourly rate: $17.25 USD per hour.
