Position Summary

At Premier Packaging, the Fold & Glue Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the overall performance of the folding and gluing department, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and team performance across all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Production & Operations Leadership
    • Oversee the daily folding and gluing operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets are achieved.
    • Directly supervise Folder Gluer Setup Operators and Fold & Glue Operators on 1st shift.
    • Provide leadership guidance and operational support to Supervisors on 2nd and 3rd shifts.
    • Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication to maintain operational continuity across all shifts.
    • Maintain production performance and address issues that impact throughput, quality, or machine efficiency.
    • Partner with Scheduling to align production priorities and ensure on-time order completion.
  • Advanced Technical Leadership
    • Provide advanced technical oversight inclusive of structure set up documentation and standardization for fold and glue operations and machine performance.
    • Support and complete complex setups, troubleshooting, and operational problem-solving when required.
    • Monitor fold and glue performance metrics and implement improvements to reduce waste and improve throughput.
    • Support technically complex production runs requiring elevated expertise.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach, and develop the Fold & Glue production team to ensure strong performance and engagement.
    • Provide direction and support to shift Leads to maintain consistent expectations and operational standards across shifts.
    • Participate in hiring, training, and development of Setup Operators, Leads, and Operators.
    • Conduct performance feedback and address attendance, conduct, and performance issues when necessary.
    • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive production environment.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Ensure all folding and gluing operations meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
    • Partner with Quality to investigate and resolve quality issues.
    • Reinforce adherence to ISO, CGMP, safety, and company policies.
    • Ensure consistent quality control practices across all shifts.
  • Equipment, Safety & Maintenance
    • Support machine setup, troubleshooting, and operational problem-solving when required.
    • Partner with Maintenance to identify equipment issues, preventive maintenance needs, and repair priorities.
    • Reinforce safe work practices and ensure employees follow all safety procedures.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve machine efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize production workflows.
    • Partner with Operations leadership to implement process improvements and operational best practices.
    • Encourage employee feedback and engagement in improving folding and gluing operations.
    • Sponsor initiatives that strengthen department performance and operational consistency across shifts.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience operating or setting up Folder/Gluer equipment in a manufacturing or packaging environment (BOBST experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading production employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of folding carton production flow, quality control standards, and safety practices.
  • Ability to be on your feet for the duration of an 8+ hour shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and standing.
  • Ability to perform basic math and apply problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required to meet production needs.
