About the role

We are seeking a Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Assistant to join our Food Services team. You will perform a variety of food services for patients, including cleaning and dish room duties, and other related cleaning tasks. You will join a collaborative team that values care and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare various foods and beverages for patients.
  • Prepare and portion foods following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
  • Cover, label, and date foods; store them properly according to procedures.
  • Follow proper food handling techniques (gloves, handwashing, hair covering, no eating on the job, etc.).
  • Prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements; restock as needed.
  • Check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
  • Help reduce cost by minimizing waste and overproduction; utilize leftovers appropriately.
  • Act in a cost-conscious manner.
  • Promptly report food shortages, outdated items, or products received in unacceptable condition.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some kitchen experience is desirable.

About the workplace

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital is a 204-bed facility in Palm Beach County offering preventative and elective programs and surgeries. The hospital is an Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Primary Stroke Center and provides:

  • A full-service Children’s Hospital.
  • Outpatient rehabilitation and an aquatics center.
