About the role
As a Food & Nutrition Services Associate at West Valley Medical Center, you will be both a nutrition professional and a caregiver, providing delicious and nutritious meals for patients, staff, and others. You will join a hard-working and compassionate team vital to the day-to-day functions of our hospital.
Responsibilities
- Prepare various foods and beverages for patients following established guidelines, recipes, and production sheets.
- Cover, label, and date foods, storing them properly according to procedures.
- Follow proper food handling techniques, including wearing gloves, handwashing, using hair coverings, and avoiding eating on the job.
- Prepare and set up food and supplies in sufficient quantity to cover service requirements, restocking as needed.
- Check daily menu needs and complete advance preparation for the next day.
- Help reduce costs by minimizing waste and overproduction, utilizing leftovers appropriately.
- Promptly report food shortages, outdated items, or products received in unacceptable condition.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Food Handlers Permit or ServSafe Certification required.
- Food service, hospital diet office, and cash register experience preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Must be 18 years of age.
