Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Patient Support Volunter (Woodlands North Davis)
The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians in covering all overhead expenses, 100% of donations received go directly toward paying the essential non-medical living expenses of adults battling cancer.
About the role
Patient Support Volunteers brighten a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support while they are undergoing treatment. In the infusion area, volunteers offer snacks or beverages to patients, hand out warm blankets, share reading materials, talk and listen, wipe down infusion chairs, and help support the nurses with restocking.

- Caregivers of someone with cancer
- College students with an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine
Requirements
- Minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months
- Complete a phone interview
- Complete a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening
- FCS is a nicotine and medical marijuana-free workplace; individuals who test positive for nicotine or medical marijuana will not be permitted to participate
- Complete a health screening:
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemption
- Annual influenza vaccine (required August 1 through March 31)
