The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians, 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.
Responsibilities
- Brighten up a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support to them while they are undergoing treatment.
- Offer a snack or beverage to a patient.
- Hand out warm blankets.
- Share reading materials.
- Talk and listen.
- Wipe down the infusion chairs.
- Help support the nurses with re-stocking.
Requirements
- A minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.
- Complete a phone interview.
- Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
- Be a retiree, cancer survivor, caregiver of someone with cancer, or have an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
- Complete a health screening including TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemption.
- Receive an annual influenza vaccine.

Qualifications
