Overview
The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. It assists cancer patients across the state of Florida.
Responsibilities
- Brighten up a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support during their treatment.
- Offer a snack or beverage to a patient.
- Hand out warm blankets.
- Share reading materials.
- Talk and listen to patients.
- Wipe down infusion chairs.
- Help support nurses with re-stocking.
Requirements
- A minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.
- Complete a phone interview.
- Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
- Be a retiree, cancer survivor, caregiver of someone with cancer, or have an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
- Complete a health screening including TB testing, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions.
- Get an annual influenza vaccine (August 1 through March 31).
