Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Patient Support Volunteer (Cape Coral_Commerce Creek)

The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The FCS Foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Due to the generosity of the Florida Cancer Specialists partner physicians, 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential non-medical living expenses of an adult battling cancer.

Responsibilities

• Offer a snack or beverage to a patient in the infusion area.
• Hand out warm blankets to patients.
• Share reading materials with patients.
• Talk and listen to patients.
• Wipe down infusion chairs.
• Help support nurses with re-stocking.

Requirements

• A minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week for at least six months.
• Complete a phone interview.
• Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
• Pass a health screening including TB testing and Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions.
• Receive an annual influenza vaccine.

Qualifications

• Retiree, cancer survivor, or caregiver of someone with cancer.
• College student with an interest in oncology, nursing, or medicine.
