Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Patient Support Volunteer (Bonita Springs)

The FCS Foundation is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit organization founded in 2011 and located at 5204 Paylor Lane in Sarasota, Florida. The foundation assists cancer patients across the state of Florida. Donations cover all overhead expenses, ensuring 100% of funds go directly to supporting non-medical living expenses for adult cancer patients.

Responsibilities

• Brighten up a cancer patient’s day by offering snacks or beverages, distributing warm blankets, sharing reading materials, talking and listening, wiping down infusion chairs, and assisting nurses with re-stocking.
• Volunteers must commit a minimum of 3 hours per week for at least six months.

Requirements

• Complete a phone interview.
• Pass a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening.
• For Patient Support Volunteers, TB testing and Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemptions are required.
• An annual influenza vaccine is required (August 1 through March 31).

Note: FCS is a nicotine and medical marijuana-free workplace. Individuals who test positive for these substances will not be permitted to participate in the volunteer program.
