About the role
The Floriculture Associate performs manual labor to assist in the maintenance, upkeep, stocking, and fulfillment of growing medicinal cannabis. This position involves working with plant material, which may include exposure to pollen, allergens, and other plant-related substances. Work time allocation:
- 60% of time working with plants in grow rooms (propagating, transplanting, moving, pruning, spacing, grading, watering, potting, harvesting, and loading cannabis plants).
- 30% of time on general nursery upkeep, including 5S practices.
- 10% of time on continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the propagation, transplanting, moving, pruning, spacing, grading, watering, applications, potting, harvesting, and loading of cannabis plants.
- Perform general duties around the nursery to maintain upkeep, including 5S practices.
- Scout for plant pests and assist in irrigation and application schedules.
- Follow and uphold GMP/GAP standards.
- Manage medical cannabis plants, providing individualized attention to each plant.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Execute techniques consistently and embrace a mindset of Extreme Ownership.
Requirements
- Prior commercial agricultural experience in a greenhouse or nursery.
- Knowledge of controlled greenhouse environments.
- Ability to follow protocols and willingness to learn new skills.
- Detail-oriented with effective time management and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a cohesive team atmosphere across all areas.
- Strong math skills.
- Knowledge of Maryland/Missouri DHSS regulations preferred.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- 2+ years of experience working in a greenhouse/nursery environment or a related horticultural field; or a combination of education and experience.
- Must be 21 years old.
- Must comply with state requirements, including providing fingerprints and consenting to an FBI background check (Maryland and Missouri).
