Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine, scheduled, and project-based floor care services using approved techniques and advanced floor care equipment
- Operate specialized equipment, including auto scrubbers, high-speed burnishers, buffers, and carpet extractors
- Strip, wax, polish, burnish, and deep clean various floor surfaces, including VCT, terrazzo, tile, and carpet
- Follow daily, weekly, and rotational floor maintenance schedules; assist with planning and executing large-scale or project-based floor care
- Cookordinate floor care activities with EVS leadership and clinical teams to minimize disruption to patient care and operations
- Ensure proper safety signage, barricades, and work-zone controls are in place at all times
- Adhere to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards while performing all duties
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and minor floor repairs; promptly report equipment malfunctions or floor conditions requiring advanced repair
- Communicate work impacts, delays, or safety concerns to appropriate departments and EVS team members
- Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient workflows, avoid duplication of effort, and deliver high-quality service
Qualifications & Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent years of relevant experience
- No prior floor care experience required; previous floor care experience preferred
- New hires without prior experience must successfully complete floor care training and competency requirements within two (2) months of hire
- Must successfully pass a floor care competency assessment
- Valid Indiana driver’s license and proof of insurance required
- Ability to safely operate floor care equipment, including auto scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with hospital policy and regulatory standards
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and climbing ladders
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds or more
- Ability to perform repetitive motions and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment
