About the role
PCSI is seeking a Floor Technician at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. The position involves operating various floor care equipment and performing cleaning tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing.
- Clean baseboards, corners, and doors.
- Perform finishing techniques to protect floors.
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets to remove dirt and stains.
- Perform special cleaning assignments as directed.
- Determine appropriate cleaning chemicals for different surfaces.
- Clean vent covers.
- Develop and maintain capable working relationships with coworkers and staff.
- Continually improve and develop skills and knowledge.
- Maintain floor care equipment and supply adequate chemical supplies.
- Maintain a high level of productivity while working safely and dependably.
- Adhere to company rules, technical procedures, and safety policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One or two years of public sector (hospital, school, etc.) related experience preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screenings.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, use hands, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to adhere to contract requirements and company policies, safety and health rules and regulations.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
- Possess valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
Qualifications
- Ability to operate stripping, polishing, and shampooing equipment such as electrical buffing, scrubbing, and extractor machines, electric dry foam shampoo machine, vacuum, battery operated and self-propelled floor scrubber, and carpet shampoo machines.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to present a professional image and have a neat appearance.
- Ability to follow directions, understand work rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a health care environment that may cause personal harm, exposure to various dirt, debris, and odors, and exposure to elevated noise levels.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to adhere to all company mission, core values, policies, and ethical practices.
Benefits
Base pay of $19.87 an hour. Employees accrue sick/personal leave up to fifty-six (56) hours per year.
