Responsibilities

  • Perform overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) in offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas (e.g., cafeterias).
  • Dust surfaces and floors; empty waste baskets; remove waste and reline baskets.
  • Damp wipe and clean all furniture.
  • Clean and polish metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms.
  • Mop and sanitize floors of rooms and offices.
  • Spot clean walls and windows.
  • Replenish room supplies and perform discharge cleaning as assigned.
  • Vacuum carpets and spot clean as needed.
  • Perform heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas.
  • Empty trash, linen, and garbage containers for project work.
  • Notify supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
  • Complete work with minimal supervision; follow project schedules and complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Work with customers to minimize disruption to clinical areas while completing project work.
  • Perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continual basis; accept supervision from multiple persons; perform tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Sign in and out for pager/phone (if applicable) and follow pager/phone protocols.
  • Follow Personal Protective Equipment procedures.
  • Transport waste from dirty core.
  • Cycle clean ceilings and walls.
  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals.
  • Assist in cleaning emergency spills.
  • Report customer suggestions/complaints to supervisor.
  • Clean and sanitize assigned work area.
  • Attend mandatory hospital and department scheduled meetings/in-services; adhere to specific hospital and department policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

1 – 2 years experience in floor care preferred.

Education Requirements

High School/GED

Special Requirements

  • Ability to maintain and operate special floor care equipment including, but not limited to: Side by Side Orbital Machine, Carpet Extractor, Floor Burnisher, and Auto Scrubber.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and perform tasks with due consideration for patients, staff, and visitors in the vicinity.
