Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned projects such as stripping/waxing/refinishing of hard surface flooring, carpet extracting/bonnet buffing, restorative scrub of ceramic tile.
  • Work individually and in a team environment, completing other tasks as assigned.
  • Respond to and initiate communication by phone, handheld radios, pagers, etc.
  • Under the general supervision of the EVS Manager/Supervisor, duties include but are not limited to:
    • Performing floor scrubbing/stripping, refinishing, carpet shampooing, carpet extraction, cleaning floor corners/edges/baseboards, removing trash, floor buffing, floor burnishing, elevator track cleaning, other floor and carpet maintenance, upholstery cleaning, conference room set ups, stairwell cleaning, in all assigned areas of the hospital using standard cleaning procedures and chemicals.
    • Actively participating in outstanding customer service and accepting responsibility in maintaining respectful relationships with all parties.
    • Mopping, sweeping, scrubbing, and stripping floors, applying floor sealers and finishes.
    • Full vacuuming in traffic areas and visible debris on carpets, spot cleaning carpets as needed using extraction and bonneting methods.
    • Maintaining hard floors with no build-up in corners and providing dust mopping.
    • Polishing floors using buffing products to restore shine, high gloss, and uniform appearance to traffic areas.
    • Maintaining and keeping equipment clean and in good operational condition.
    • Securing the work area with all Safety Signs.
    • Reporting safety hazards as appropriate.
    • Locking and unlocking doors and windows to offices and other rooms as necessary.
    • Turning off lights when rooms are unoccupied.
    • Working day, evening, or night shifts as assigned.
    • Performing related work as directed.
    • Ensuring equipment is left clean and ready to use including cleaning materials at the end of the shift.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of knowledge within acute care hospital environmental service techniques, practices, and procedures required.
  • Preferred two years of Floor Tech experience in a healthcare setting.
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
