Floor Hand

About the Role

This position is part of a 4–5-person workover rig crew on a well service rig, responsible for performing services on oil and gas wells as requested by customers. The Floor Hand assists in rigging up and down, handling rods, tubing, and casing, and other tasks specified by the Rig Supervisor. All duties are performed with a focus on safety and meeting customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the assigned Workover Rig Supervisor.
• Assists in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well.
• Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards, and assists in attaching guy wires to anchors.
• Operates rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, and other rig tools during well servicing operations.
• Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting tubing from the rack to the work floor or vice versa.
• Maintains tubing, rod tongs, and hand tools on the rig.
• Dismantles and repairs oil field machinery using hand and power tools.
• Cleans up spills and keeps pipe deck and main deck areas orderly.
• Reports safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor.
• Ensures work follows company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Climbs ladders and stairs; lifts up to 75 lbs; works long hours as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (preferred).
• Basic oilfield well servicing experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year rig floor operation experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as required.
• Work may be performed in all weather conditions.
• Mobility to enter confined spaces, use ladders, bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl, and walk.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform duties requiring prolonged standing, squatting, kneeling, or reaching.
• Able to work with protective equipment, including H2S respirators where required.
• Ability to work near or with heavy tools and moving machinery.
• Strong teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
• Basic problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Reliable cell phone communication and transportation.
• Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol and job-relevant screens.
