About the role

The Floor Hand position is part of a 4-5 person workover rig crew on a well service rig, responsible for performing services on oil and gas wells requested by the customers of Axis Energy Services. Duties are performed to maximize crew safety while meeting customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Assists the operator in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well.
• Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards, and assists in attaching guy wires to the anchor.
• Operates rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, and other rig tools and equipment during well servicing operations.
• Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa.
• Maintains tubing, rod tongs, and hand tools on the rig.
• Dismantles and repairs oil field machinery using hand and power tools.
• Cleans up spills and keeps pipe deck and main deck areas orderly.
• Reports safety hazards, incidents, or maintenance issues to the Rig Supervisor.
• Ensures work complies with company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Climbs ladders and stairs and lifts up to 75 lbs.
• Works long hours and stands for extended periods as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent (preferred).
• Minimum of one (1) year rig floor operation experience.
• Basic oilfield well servicing experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
• Ability to work a varied rotational schedule and travel as required by the job.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Mobility to enter confined spaces, use ladders, bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl, and walk.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to stand, squat, kneel, reach, or perform similar activities for long periods.
• Ability to work with protective equipment, including H2S respirator where required.
• Ability to work near or with heavy tools and moving machinery.
• Ability to interact in a team environment and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Basic problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Reliable cell phone communication and transportation.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol and job-relevant screens.

Physical Demands

• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs; team lift up to 100 lbs when required.
• Stand up to 8 hours and walk up to 4 hours per shift.
• Constantly climb ladders and derrick structures up to 50 feet; perform elevated work on the tubing board, rod basket, and related rig components.
• Frequently bend, kneel, reach, push, pull, and handle rig tools, tubing elevators, hand tools, and other equipment.
• Demonstrate grip strength of approximately 80–100 lbs per hand for safe tool handling.
• Use occasional fine motor skills for hand tools, equipment checks, and rig support tasks.
• Work outdoors in field environments with exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, heavy tools, moving machinery, and oil and gas wellsite conditions.
• Wear required PPE and maintain adequate vision and hearing to safely communicate and perform work in hazardous environments.

Schedule

• Typical 12-hour shifts on a 14/7 rotation schedule.
• Travel up to approximately 75% based on operational needs.
