About the role
The Carpentry and Related Trades Supervisor oversees skilled workers performing tasks such as installing, repairing, and replacing carpeting, tile, and other floor materials.
Responsibilities
- Estimates quantities of materials required to complete assigned jobs involving covering floors.
- Loads material for a given job into a truck.
- Ensures all supplies and materials are available before beginning a project.
- Disconnects and/or removes obstructions such as furniture.
- Measures and cuts floor covering and foundation materials such as padding and building paper to fit projections and openings.
- Lays foundation material for floors, if required, and finish materials such as asphalt tile, vinyl tile, rubber tile, linoleum, other types of sheet goods, carpet.
- Covers floor material if required, and applies base, reducer strips, and carpet strips.
- Operates and maintains a variety of hand and power tools to perform assigned tasks.
- Operates forklift.
- Performs job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience laying carpeting, resilient floor tile, and linoleum.
- High school graduation or the equivalent.
Benefits
This is a non-exempt position. Regular Classified Salary Range 41. Most positions in this class work 8 hours/12 months. The probationary period for employees in this classification is six (6) months (or 130 working days of paid service).
