Floor Care Technician

Shift: Day shift - 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with every other weekend rotation
Location: Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD

About the role

The Floor Care Technician performs floor care and housekeeping duties for the hospital’s Environmental Services Department. This role is guided by advanced knowledge of cleaning techniques and procedures, operation and use of department equipment and supplies for housekeeping and floor care. Responsible for timely, courteous, and competent services rendered in a safe manner for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Accepts additional assignments related to support functions as needed to provide service excellence. On evenings and weekends, may receive direction from the Supervisor as assigned by the Assistant Director of Environmental Services. May also receive guidance and instruction from the Nursing Department.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care and housekeeping duties using advanced cleaning techniques and procedures.
• Operate and maintain department equipment and supplies.
• Provide timely, courteous, and competent services in a safe manner for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Accept additional support assignments as needed to ensure service excellence.
• Follow direction from supervisors and nursing staff as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
• Ability to read and write information regarding duty lists, instructional information, policies, and procedures.
• Proficiency in using alphanumeric pagers and telephones.
• Strong customer service skills for interacting with patients, families, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Able to work independently.
• On-the-job experience as a housekeeper and floor technician at Holy Cross Hospital, a similar-sized healthcare institution, hotel, or commercial cleaning environment.
• Good physical condition and general ability to work with hand and power tools.

Pay

Pay Range: $17.65 - $22.85 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may vary based on location.
