Education / Qualification
Ability to read and write English. Must have the ability to follow oral and written instruction.
Essential Functions
- Works under the direction of the Housekeeping Team Leader and Environmental Services Director.
- Cleans and services the resident rooms, common spaces, work areas and any other assigned building areas.
- Move furniture and equipment as needed for floor care preparation.
- Perform a variety of cleaning tasks to maintain the Jewish Home in a sanitary, attractive and orderly condition.
- Spot cleaning carpet, carpet extraction, VCT scrubbing, stripping and waxing of all flooring.
- Dust horizontal surfaces that collect dust.
- Empty waste baskets, remove trash and clean baskets inside and out.
- Damp wipes clean all furniture.
- Clean all metal and porcelain fixtures in bathroom.
- Dry mop, wet mop and disinfect all floors in assigned areas.
- Clean fecal and urine-stained flooring as needed.
- Perform special project work as assigned.
- Spot clean carpets when assigned and assist in cleaning of any emergency spills observed or upon request.
- Maintains their assigned equipment and advises the Team Leader or Director when repairs are needed.
- Observe and report any deficiencies of equipment, furniture or fixtures to the Team Leader.
- In case of community disaster, assist the Nursing personnel in making up extra beds and any other duties assigned.
- Use equipment and chemicals only for their intended purposes to prevent damage and maintain compliance.
- Store tools and chemicals properly to help prevent injury to self, residents, visitors, and staff.
- Exercise good judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
- Follows all prescribe OSHA safety regulations relating to this position.
Experience
Previous health care experience with cleaning and floor care experience preferred.
