Floor Bruystens op residentie in Het Lage Noorden
About the Residency
Artist and songwriter Floor Bruystens will spend her residency at Het Lage Noorden in Friesland, creating new work with her four-track cassette recorder. The results will be presented during De Broeikas at Explore the North on 31 October.
Floor’s music balances honest expression and tender melodies, blending alternative folk with storytelling. Her guitar playing is like dancing on strings, her voice both soft and raw, and her lyrics explore the landscapes of the subconscious and unsaid. Influenced by indie folk, nature, and literature, she crafts a unique sound of warm tones and haunting yet light-seeking texts.
Originally planned for a cabin in Norway, the residency was relocated after a break-in left the space unusable. Fortunately, a new location was found, and the residency proceeded as planned.
Residency Highlights
- Moonloops and Lemony Rug collaborated during their residency on Ameland, writing and completing a new song in just one day while forming a new friendship.
- Anna Spark (FRL) and Susanna Lykke (NO) created new material inspired by the sounds and stories of Leeuwarden during their temporary workspace at Zaailand, performing at the Fries Straatfestival and Noardewyn.

- Friese Vinyl Club Jubileumeditie: GraafLandgraaf releases their new EP Ethical Necessity of Violence on 18 September at 21:00, celebrating the 25th edition of Friese Vinyl Club.
- Northern Talent Showcase: On 1 August, Kampeerterrein Stortemelk and Popfabryk present Mayte, ZEA, and Faske—an evening dedicated to northern artistic talent.
