Floating Mammography Technologist in Training (paid) - Must be ARRT registered in Radiology
Position Summary
The Mammography Technologist I performs technical activities associated with screening mammography procedures to obtain high quality images of the breasts and serves as an integral part of providing an exceptional patient care experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols
- Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
- Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed
- Prepare exam rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies
- Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits, including patient clinical history and prior imaging
- Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs
- Use radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Absorb and assist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I’s
Qualifications
- Certifications: ARRT X-Ray licensed technologist, BLS, CPRE
- Education/Licensing/Certification: Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
- Experience: No Mammography experience required but you must have an ARRT certification in radiography. ARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- BLS CPR certification
- Computer literate
- Read and interpret medical reports
- Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology
- Radiographic technique and positioning knowledge
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent customer service, both internal and external
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Travel required: 0 – 25%
