Responsibilities

• Protect the physical and mental health and safety of our children and ensure no child is left alone or unsupervised.
• Create an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and skill growth aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
• Implement prescribed curricula to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences in various domains and integrate child assessment data in individual and group planning.
• Support screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluations of the child’s developmental level and progress.
• Engage parents and family members in their child’s development and program services through parent conferences, home visits, and group activities.
• Follow appropriate practices to keep children safe during all activities, including reporting suspected or known child abuse and neglect, and maintaining proper supervision.
• Participate in staff development and complete minimum training requirements as specified in state and federal standards.
• Support classroom activities as directed by the teacher and assist with transitions to and from the classroom.
• Maintain confidentiality in all areas of child and program operations.
• Communicate child observations to teachers and support teachers' coordination with education, family, mental health, and child development professionals.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED, Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within 6 months of employment, bilingual (Spanish preferred).
• Preferred: Previous early childcare experience.

• Communicate in writing and verbally in English and Spanish (preferred).
• Maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.
• Have a working knowledge of INK policies and procedures.
• Organize and prioritize duties in a fast-paced environment.

Measurable Deliverables

• Timely and compliant response to classroom requests for support.
• Regular communication with teachers to ensure they are well-informed about student behavior and progress.
• A classroom free from physical and environmental hazards.
• Incident reporting within designated timeframes.
